Summer Casting

For the sake of catching up on the blog I thought I'd re post the whole Summer Casts! So Jacksen broke his arm while playing at the park at the end of the block in a freak accident followed by Mackenzie breaking her elbow less than 2 weeks later... at another park. Thank Goodness for water proof casts, they saved us for sure!!

another visit to the surgeon's office
only a deranged Mother would bring her camera to the ER to snap a photo...

Happy 7th Birthday Jacksen!

Jack turned 7 in June. Had a great day celebrating with family and his grandparents from Wyoming even made a special trip this Summer. Jack is our super talented, happy, FUNNY and kind child. So grateful to have him ♥
Gma and Gpa came from Wyoming for a special visit
Still loves LEGOS!

Jack and his ball

It's funny as I post this "catch up" post of Jack's baseball from last year, I am realizing that the new season starts in just a couple of weeks! How time flies.
So Jack LOVES baseball. He just does. We never saw him do anything but grin while playing. He had an amazing coach and made lots of new friends. He is so excited to play again soon!
Memorable moments: Randy throws a ball to jack during practice that nails him right in the nose which then pours out blood... ick. On a better note, Jack was picked to play in an exhibition game which he was so excited to play in!! We love this smiling kid!!

Casting Call?!

Happy the tears are over and she's ALL smiles (well mostly)
What in the world is happening at our house?? Holy Cow, it's been an eventful summer so far. A couple weeks ago Jack was playing at the park and fell on his hand weird while playing tag, broke his hand... Apparently Mackenzie was feeling left out, so while we were at the splash park on Friday of last week, she broke her elbow... WHAT IS GOING ON? Here is the good news!! 2 words..... water-proof. Who knew they made waterproof casts? They can swim and even bathe in them so they are not itchy or smelly. YAY for that! Now, I'm off to buy large sums of bubble wrap where I will wrap everyone inside it nice and cozy to prevent any further injury. LOL
I swear, if there were frequent flyer miles for Dr. visits, we'd be flying far ♥

Chick Magnet?

So while I was doing dishes this morning I overheard Jack and Luke having a conversation. Jack (6) said " I sure wish I could have chicks like that" to which Luke (4) replied "me too" It caught my attention (and caught me off guard) so I looked up and to my relief they were looking at a farm book together and had stumbled on a page that had all these fuzzy little chicks... LOL!! I spose there will be a day in the near future (but not too near I hope) where the dialogue will be the same between them but they won't be referring to the fuzzy yellow ones anymore.

Happy 6th Birthday Jacksen!!

Well... YAY!! we survived another Birthday party. We celebrated Jacksen's 6Th Birthday on the last day of school. It was the day before his actual birthday and it just made sense to do it then. We also joined forces with his good buddy Kyle, who also turned 6 (their birthdays are 2 days apart) We invited the entire kindergarten class since we were having the party right after school at the park (which is connected to the school, so they just walked straight over) The rest of the school didn't get out for another hour and a half so we had the park completely to ourselves.
It was GREAT! I made Pizza cakes (complete with candy toppings and white chocolate "cheese") to go with our theme of pizza and water guns.
** I've had a number of requests re: the pizza cake. I used a 14" round from wilton (takes 2 cake mixes) bake at 325 for 50-55 min. Used choc. frosting mixed with red food coloring. Use shaved white chocolate for the cheese. Use real fruit leather (in the produce dept) in cherry and use a small circle cookie cutter for the pepperoni, sliced fat black jelly beans for the olives, sliced up green jelly candies for the peppers, and white ones for onions. I halved malt balls and placed them like sausage. Any other fun candy toppings you can come up with. You can always get a pizza place to give or sell you a box and round cardboard to put the cake on. Enjoy!!
The pinatas were destroyed in a matter of minutes and all the 30+ kids scrambled to scoop up the loot!! It was a great ending to a wonderful school year for the kids. Kyle and Jack had a blast celebrating together with all their pals and we were glad the park was a great place to play and get soaked with water guns.
Happy Birthday Jack and Kyle!!

Kindergarten Mother's Day tea

Jack and his buddy Kyle
Jack's class hatched chicks using an incubator
reading his story to me
Jack the "ham"
We had a lovely time at Jack's class' Mother's Day tea party. What a hoot! The kids introduced their Mother's one by one and gave them a necklace they had made. They sang songs, recited nursery rhymes they'd learned, and each child read a story they'd written about their Mom. Jack's was really funny as usual. I am so grateful the Jacksen is a part of our family. He is such a ham and such a love ♥ Really, he is maybe our most helpful child and always recognizes when he can help and often does so without being asked. What a blessing he is!

It's little hand written notes like this that make it "all" worth it as a Mom :) This is Jacksen's invitation for a Mother's Day tea that the Kindergarten class is having this Friday. So dang cute!

Who loves to read?!

Almost every morning before school I have Jack read to Lukas and they both thoroughly enjoy it. Jack is really coming along with his reading and at this point is reading at 1st grade level and beyond. How fun it's been to see him excel and be excited about reading. From time to time we'll catch him sitting on the toilet "reading" Daddy's motorcycle magazines.

Just call me Mr. Bump

So, I thought I should post about a very well known fact in our family:
JACK IS ACCIDENT PRONE!!
I got a call from the school on Friday letting me know that Jack had taken a header on the playground and that he had a goose egg above his left eye. Not too serious, so he stayed at school. Later that day it rained a bit which made the streets slick. While riding his bike in the court (which we'd asked him not too due to the rain) he took a serious tumble and got these lovely bumps and bruises on his cheek and chin (is it bad while your child is screaming bloody murder to say "I told you so?") Then again the next day bumped the top of his head pretty hard which gave him another goose egg. Will it ever end?? Luckily he's pretty resilient and will give himself a wink as he surveys the damage in the bathroom mirror.....
Planned? I hope not.
